School Cleanup
The School cleanup is a bi-weekly event that takes place on Thursdays right after paper recycling. Volunteers are asked to gather in the atrium, collect their tongs, gloves, and bags, then go to their designated area in the school to clean up. Students will walk around the schoolyard and clean up our school grounds, with all the collected garbage tossed accordingly. This event is a big step to spread awareness to the Dover community about how our actions impact the environment around us. With everyone's efforts, let's keep our beautiful school grounds clean! |

Park Cleanup
In collaboration with the Adopt Our Community organization, Dover Bay Eco Club has been hosting monthly cleanups at May Richards Bennett Pioneer Park. This park that we have 'adopted' is often used by members of the community for its various recreational facilities including a skating bowl, grass fields, football fields, and tennis courts. The area, consequently, is often heavily littered. As responsible citizens, we hope that these small acts can serve as a reminder to our community that we are responsible for the world we wake up to.
Beach Cleanup
Occasionally, we also go to Blue Back beach to do cleanups. Blue Back is a quiet and secluded beach that can quickly transform into an idyllic sandy beach when the tide retreats, making it a familiar favourite for everyone in the community. Here at Eco Club, we are frequent visitors for Forage Fish Surveys, Native Plant Garden, and small trips. The good news is that most teams come back relatively empty handed when we go to clean-up this beach; only a couple of groups would locate large pieces of garbage. The upsetting news, however, is that micro-pollutants are inescapable and ravage this beach is ways that aren't always noticeable.
Minuscule pieces of fragmented styrofoam, chewing gum, and half deteriorated wrappers would occasionally be found in the seaweeds that mark the previous shoreline.
